Brian Canever is a writer based in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Born to Argentinian immigrants in a blue-collar city in Northern New Jersey, Brian’s fascination with storytelling was birthed by his grandfather, a self-educated auto technician and coin collector. In 2015, he completed a master’s degree in communication and information from the University of Tennessee. He previously earned a bachelor’s degree in Latin American and Latino studies from William Paterson University. Brian has written about American cage fighters, immigrant soccer players, community educators, front-line health care workers, and hundreds of local, national, and international nonprofit and higher education leaders. His bylines can be found on ESPN, The Knoxville Mercury, The Daily Times of Maryville, Top Drawer Soccer, Tenkara Angler, and various other sport, higher education, and general interest publications.
In addition to his day job with the University of Tennessee’s news and information department, Brian writes short fiction, essays, and poetry.
